About Us

Professional Horticultural Services originated with Charles Miller in 1952. As a graduate of the University of Florida, Charles received his horticulture degree in 1949, and in January of 1952, began his own business here in Tampa.

In 1977, Charles was joined by his son, Ken, who continued in the business until selling it in 2011 to start our dedicated tree care division, Beyond the Bark. In the midst of that, we started an 80-acre tree farm nursery in 2002 and operated it until selling in 2020.

Our employees maintain ongoing education, both formally in the classroom, by attending hands-on seminars to keep up-to-date on the latest plant health care practices, and day to day experiences in our unique Florida environment.
